Brand VS: Clinique vs Revlon vs MUA

Friday, 20 September 2013

Chubby Sticks; Clinique's baby, which every nearly every other brand has tried to replicate! This includes MUA, Revlon, Bourjois, Poundland's Chit Chat and Avon! I picked up the MUA one the other day so I the had three, so I thought I would start a Brand VS series to compare the products and the dupes, (not for colour, but product.)

MUA, Revlon, Clinique
The Chubby Stick - Mighty Mimosa
A moisturising lip balm type product with a nice colour pay off. It also has a nice shimmer running throughout! Clinique have the biggest colour range out of the three brands. 'Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm is a lip treatment with sheer colour that relieves dry, cracked lips and provides immediate moisturisation. The unique pencil-style applicator provides easy to apply sheer soft lip colour and rolls up for ease of use.'
£17.00

The Kissable Balm Stain - Cherish
A minty smelling balmy stain, which after the balm wears off, it leaves a nice stain. 'It’s a pampering balm fused with a lightweight lip stain in an adorable chubby crayon. Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain gives softer, smoother lips with a perfect flush of colour that lasts hour after hour. The gel formula comes in 12 vibrant shades that match any look or mood.'
£7.99

The Power Pout - Irreplaceable
MUA's answer to the Chubby Stick is; Power Pout a mix between a tint and a balm. When applied it is sort of like a moisturising lipstick in 'Chubby Stick' form, and like the Revlon one has a minty smell/taste. 'MUA Power Pout is a lip treatment with colour intensity that relieves dry, cracked lips providing immediate moisturisation. The handy pencil-style applicator provides easy to apply sheer soft lip colour and rolls up for easy use.'

MUA Irreplaceable, Revlon Cherish, Clinique Mighty Mimosa
When I was looking through the descriptions of the products I realised how similar Clinique and MUA's descriptions were! I highlighted the bits that are almost identical. I'm guessing that MUA may have copied Clinique...?

Clinique:
'Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm is a lip treatment with sheer colour that relieves dry, cracked lips and provides immediate moisturisation. The unique pencil-style applicator provides easy to apply sheer soft lip colour and rolls up for ease of use.'

MUA:
'MUA Power Pout is a lip treatment with colour intensity that relieves dry, cracked lips providing immediate moisturisation. The handy pencil-style applicator provides easy to apply sheer soft lip colour and rolls up for easy use.'

To rank them in order I would have to say Clinique first. Mainly because it has no scent so it is good for people with sensitive skin. Second would be Revlon's because it is very moisturising, and the stain it leaves is really nice. Last would be MUA, not because I don't like it just more because it is more of a lipstick than balm.

I would love to hear your favourites, and other 'chubby stick' type products reviews! As well as products described almost exactly the same as others!
