Makeup Revolution 2014

It has been a while since I have done a wishlist post, so I thought what better brand to do a wishlist on? Why MakeupRevolution of course!

Pro Fix Makeup Fixing Spray - £5.00
Everyone has heard of the Urban Decay setting spray, although not all of us can afford it so I really want to try MakeupRevolution's version. Hopefully it is just as good as the Urban Decay version which I long to get my hands on!

5 Baked Eyeshadows - Chocolate Deluxe - £2.50
I love eyeshadow, it's no secret, but look how beautiful these are. Five shadows that look like they will work together to create either a subtle everyday look or a dramatic night look depending on how you use them.

Scandalous Lipsticks - Immortal - £1.00
Look at this lipstick, just look at it! It's blue, like a bright brilliant blue! And for only a pound, like how cool is it. Halloween is probably the only time I would use it, that and when I get bored and want to play around with random clashing makeup, but for a pound it wouldn't matter!

Ultra Blush and Contour Palette - Sugar and Spice - £6.00
I'm not a massive lover of blush, but this palette looks gorgeous. I am hoping that the darker shades that could be used to contour with are not shimmery as that could slightly lower my interest in the palette. I am currently trying to learn ho to contour properly and me being pale is not an advantage.

Iconic 3 Palette - £4.00
£4 for what is essentially Urban Decay's Naked 3 palette. You really can't argue. From the reviews I have read this seems like the perfect palette! I'm very tempted to grab it when I next go to Superdrug, that is, if it is in stock. (It seems very popular as the last few times I have been it has been completely sold out!)

I can't decide whether my next wishlist should be drugstore or high end as both are fun to compile. What do you think, also any particular brands you think I should create a wish list for would be useful!

Essence Waterproof Eyeliner Pen

I love eyeliner. There I said it! While others fall in love with blushes, lipsticks and eye shadows, I fall in love with eyeliners. (Though I won't pretend I don't have my fair share of blushes, lipsticks and eye shadows...) I am forever searching for the best felt tip liners, as you may have guessed from my The Good, The Bad and the Lovely post I did not too long ago. And although in that post I declared the the Eyeko Skinny Liner was the one I love, I have to admit it fell down the rankings when it dried up super fast! I couldn't justify spending the money in a new one in case it dried up within a month like the last one, so I went looking for another liner that was just as good, if not better.

Anyway, I'm sure you've all heard about the newest budget brand on the block: Essence! Now I'm not kidding when I say that they are a budget brand, I've seen few of their products over the £5 mark. Now unlike some other budget brands, (you know who you are,) the budget aspect of these products does not mean they are lacking quality at all. I have currently only bought liners from Essence but so far I love them all, especially this one, I have repurchased it already!

This liner, their Waterproof Eyeliner Pen to be exact, has a long, thin tip that tapers to a point. I really like this style applicator as I can use the point to get a precise fine line, or I can use the barrel, (not sure if that's what it's called or not...) to get a thicker line that is still drawn with precision. Unlike some liners that claim to be black, this is black and stays the same all day with minimal fading. I have noticed that, without a primer, it will smudge onto your lid slightly, but as I say that is without a primer. With a primer I have not had the same problem.  The pigmentation in this is superb for a product this price, jet black, whichever bit of the tip you apply from. As you can see from the swatch below it is pretty opaque, even when drawn just from the tip which is a surprise as most others don't give off as good colour when you apply from the very point, this is usually because the tip is flimsy so doesn't receive the same amount of product, but this does not apply here.

The whole product is just a little smaller than your typical Biro, and is easy to hold in your hand and apply. The lid clicks on and doesn't come off too easily which should stop any unfortunate accidents in your makeup bag. The design on the packaging isn't anything out of the ordinary, so you might look past it on the shelf. However, I urge you to persevere and find it, there may be others that have bold claims but this with all its simplicity must be admired!
If you're looking for a relatively cheap liner this Essence one is definitely the way to go, around £2.49 for such quality is almost unheard of. I predict Essence are going to be featuring a lot more in my makeup bag in the coming months!

The Impossible Has Been Done

Maybelline Baby Lips
If you were expecting this to be another same old same old Baby Lips review, you are mistaken! This is in fact a completely different post, one that should be in an achievement book somewhere for all to see because ladies and gentlemen, I have done the impossible, I have finished a lipbalm! To most this might not seem like a major thing, however for me, this is somewhat a breakthrough.
Empty Maybelline Baby Lips
While I may own around 30 different lipbalms in different pots, tubes, etc, for me to actually finish one is quite rare, in fact it hasn't been done, ever. I'll usually be near the end of a tube when, BAM, it's gone, vanished, completely disappeared, that or I've lent it to my mum and she's 'forgotten' to return it. I know I said this is not a review but, lets be fair, I loved this lipbalm so much I made a point of not losing it! Surely that shows you my opinion of it!

On a side note I am sorry that I have been writing shorter posts for the last few posts. The reason for this is that I have been playing around with the fiddly bits on the new template I have installed. For the most part those bits of html probably won't be noticed by anyone other than me, but that's okay, I just like to know that they're there. You may also notice I now have more pages! Hooray! I've been meaning to do this for a while but haven't had the time. I now have free advertising on offer, a blog roll of my favourite blogs, as well as a product directory, (the time it took to compile that!) So feel free to take a look at those and I will be back with another post on Wednesday!

September Glossybox

September Glossybox
It's that time again...Glossybox unboxing time! Unlike last month where I took forever to post about it this month I thought I would get this post up ASAP. Before I properly get into the post I'm going to issue a *SPOILER ALERT* only because I have made the mistake of reading other peoples box reviews before I have opened mine leaving me a little disappointed, so just a heads up before I reveal the contents of my box, (I really need to stop the rambling..)
September Glossybox
Now I'm not going to lie, my subscription runs out after this month so depending on the contents of this box will depend on whether I decide to resubscribe again! It got off to a very good start; I mean look at the design of the box!! This is something I will happily display in my room for all to see! The design on the front is by Karen Millen and inside is also a £25 off in store voucher when you spend £150. Unusually there is also a sneak peek at next months box too, it seems that it will have a pop art theme.
September Glossybox Contents
This months box has three full size products and the other two are very generous sample sizes. I'm not sure if the products in the box are related to Karen Millen at all but there is definitely something for everyone here!
ModelCo More Browns Fibre Gel
First product is the ModelCo More Brows Fibre Gel, now when it comes to brow products I am always sceptical because usually brands don't cater well for blondes. I currently use a powder by Avon which isn't a bad match but it isn't the quick fix I would like it to be. I'm not joking when I say as soon as I opened the box I had to try it. And what made it even better was the fact that...it's not only quick and easy...it also matches my brows! Hallelujah! Unlike some products this doesn't have to much red in it meaning it will suit blondes well. Although I haven't yet tried Benefit's Gimmie Brow, (but I would very much like to,) this appears very similar too it, a fibre gel with a short little brush.
L'Oreal Mythic Hair Oil
If I hadn't read the card I would have no idea that this is in fact a sample size, it's crazy! This is 45ml and the full size product would be 125ml! I have never actually tried a hair oil, this is L'Oreal's Mythic Oil, they've always seemed kind of a strange concept, but I'm going to try it out. It smells absolutely amazing, however, I cannot seem to put my finger on what the smell is!
SkinPep Samples
Now I have high hopes for these samples, at £89.99 for the full 180ml of the SkinPep Enzyme and Acid Peel, and £44.99 for the Eye Cream, you'd expect it to work miracles on your skin. My box had two 3.5ml samples of the peeling mask which are worth £6.10 and one 2ml sachet of the eye cream worth £6.49: crazy money! I can almost guarantee a post on what these do to my skin, I am intrigued to see how good these are.
Nails Inc Westminster Bridge Matte Top Coat
Glossybox can never go wrong with a nail polish, especially one by Nails Inc. This is their Westminster Bridge Matte Top Coat. First off the bottle is beautiful, the white on the frosted glass, I mean look at it! The product itself is good too. I tested it over a Seche polish I had received in a previous Glossybox, left is without the top coat and right is with, perfect autumnal colour don't you think?
Nivea Micellar Water
The last thing I received is a Nivea 3in1 Micellar Cleansing Water. Currently I have tried the L'Oreal Micellar Water and also the Garnier, and to be fair, up until I opened the box I had no idea that Nivea had their own. I have always been quite a big Nivea fan, always good for sensitive skin and also my mums go to skincare brand for many years. This is a brilliant thing to receive as my Garnier one is almost all gone; I wonder if this will do better than the other two I have tried!

Well Glossybox have completely won me over with this box, I love everything, (though I am kind of hoping that I don't really like the SkinPep peel and eye cream or I'm going to be doing a lot of saving up...) A great mix of brands I know and ones I haven't discovered yet! For the £10 plus p&p this box costs I have received a massive £49.35 worth of products! Not a bad investment at all. I know I said it earlier but I still think the box is beautiful, the design so pretty, and if you can get your hands on this box you really need to!

OPI Brazil Collection Beach Sandies

OPI Brazil Collection Beach Sandies
Following on from my post on Saturday about the 8 Piece Brush Set I received, I thought I would also show you this quartet of mini polishes. I am currently obsessed with Brazil, so this set was obviously high on my wish list. OPI are always doing mini sets; I have their Skyfall collection and now I have this one too! Like the last post I want to say that I am not trying to brag about what I received, I simply like reading these type of posts.

This little set, the Beach Sandies, contains four mini polishes that contain 3.75ml each, which is enough for quite a few applications. These are my first textured polishes and I love them, obviously because they are Brazil related but also because of their formulas. Although it is textured it applies like any other polish; easily and fuss free. I found that one coat was enough, but for a more vibrant colour two was needed.
OPI You're So Flippy Floppy
You're So Flippy Floppy is an amazing bright yellow, it reminds me of the sand on a sunny day. To me it is a really happy colour and I'm not usually one to like the colour yellow but I can make an exception for this. This colour brightens up every outfit I have worn it with so far and I think I'm going to continue to wear it into the colder months.
What's A Little Rain Forest? is a brilliant bright blue with a slight shimmer running throughout, imagine sparkling pool water and you'll be thinking of this colour. Out of the four this is probably my favourite colour as it is an all year round colour.
OPI I'm Brazil Nuts Over You
I'm Brazil Nuts Over You; first off I love the name, it's cheesy, but also quite clever. This is a bright coraly colour with some shimmer running through which is really pretty, and looks like it would suit most skin tones nicely.
The last polish is Samba-dy Loves Purple; a beautiful pinky purple and a very summery shade. One that I'm sad to say won't get much use till next year!

Overall this is a brilliant gift set, each mini sized polish has enough product for a good few applications and the formulas are brilliant, even with the textured element of it. I personally love the little polish sets that OPI do because you get to try out the polish without spending a fortune on each individual full sized one.

Back To School Bag Essentials

So on Wednesday I posted my Back To School Fresh Faced Makeup post, which I hope you liked, so today I thought I would do an updated bag essentials to see how much my bag content has changed. Like I did in my last post I am going to link last years posts in case you want a look.
So because the photo above is a massive jumble of things I decided that I would split the stuff into two categories: Makeup and Other, (imaginative I know...)
So to start with the makeup we have a lipgloss, Maybelline Color Sensational Cream Gloss in 130 Exquisite Pink. The is great just to add shine to your lips throughout the day without out the need to properly focus and use a mirror. I cannot live without a lip balm, my favourite at the moment being a Maybelline offering, you guessed it, a Baby Lips in Intensive Care. This smells amazing, like a cherry bakewell, hydrates my lips and keeps them nice. A concealer is really useful to top up your makeup during the day in case you are going out straight after school, this one is the blogger favourite Lasting Perfection Concealer, it has really good coverage and I love its texture. Mascara is the one makeup product I always have to have, it instantly makes me seem more awake. Benefit mascaras are amazing, they are made even more amazing by the sample sizes that they do such as this BadGal mini. Clear nail polish is a lifesaver if you wear tights, any one will do, just as long as you have some! The final item in my essentials is a face powder, it's just useful to have for top ups in case I have become shiny, this is the NYC Smooth Skin Pressed Powder, which is relatively cheap, but also effective.
My 'other' category contains a few items which are probably essential to me more that maybe anyone else. First off is hand sanitiser, we've all been there right? No soap in the loos, it's not nice, so I carry a mango hand sanitiser by The Body Shop. Obviously after PE a body spray is needed, Impulse body sprays smell amazing. Another fragrance thing I love is my roller ball of Nicki Minaj Pink Friday, it is my favourite perfume, and if I'm in need of a top up I have it handy. I always like to have a hand cream handy, (pardon the awful pun that probably wasn't that much of a pun,) it's just nice to have for when my hands are feeling dry. The one shown is Soap & Glory Daily Smooth Body Butter and I love the smell. Finally I have a mini packet of Polo's because who knows when you'll need a mint!

So wish me luck, as of today I have 148 days left of school... I am going to try to keep posting but no doubt I'll have a lot of revision!

Back To School Fresh Faced Makeup

By the time this publishes at around 8am I will already be on the bus on the way to school. The yr7's and yr11's (that's me,) have to go in today, whereas the other years go in tomorrow. It is fair but how I would cherish one more day of holiday...Oh well. In light of my return to school I thought a couple of Back To School posts were probably a good idea. I did a few last year which I'll link as well!

Something that I didn't write about last year was a fresh face look for school; I personally love quite a full face of makeup, however I have been trying out a more natural look to give my skin a breather. To do this I have been only using about four products so I thought I'd tell about them.

For a foundation I have been using Makeup Revolution's Ultra Face Base Foundation in FB 02, I can't work out if this is a BB Cream or not as it says it is a foundation but also a bb cream, oh well! Up until now it is only Rimmel that have managed to create a foundation that suits my skin tone, but Makeup Revolution have completely changed that. The shade FB 02 is almost identical to 010 Light Porcelain and I like it better than Rimmel's Wake Me Up foundation. It's a buildable foundation, but I find one layer is enough coverage for me.

Concealer wise I'm gonna have to go for the blogger favourite that is the Lasting Perfection Concealer. I may have only just got it but it already lives up to the hype. It has the perfect amount of coverage for school and brightens my under eye to hide any dark circles I have from staying up late 'studying.'

Mascara is the one thing I always, without fail, wear. It instantly changes my face, makes me look more awake. One that I'm currently liking is the SEVENTEEN doll'd up mascara, it holds my lashes curled for ages.

Final thing for a fresh faced makeup look is a lipgloss, this one is Maybelline's Color Sensational Cream Gloss in 130 Exquisite Pink. I would say it is more of a sheer candy orange that doesn't translate when applied to the lips. A gloss is great as it just adds a subtle shine and completes a look.

I haven't included anything for brows as I'm not sure how many people would take a lot of time before school to tend to them so I'd probably just run a brow brush through them and possibly a wax if they weren't behaving! I hope this has given you ideas on what sort of makeup I am planning to wear to school and check back here Saturday for another Back To School themed post!

Unboxing August Glossybox

August Glossybox
Before I start I'm going to issue a *spoiler alert* in case any of you haven't opened your Glossyboxes, (I doubt this very much but just to be on the safe side!) First things first I have to say Happy Birthday to Glossybox, *cue music and singing...* They are three this year and have sent out over 6 million boxes according to the card, how I wish all those products were mine!
August Glossybox

August Glossybox Contents
The cute menu is replaced, this month, with a parcel shaped card to mark their third birthday. As it is their birthday, each box has an extra product in! I also think that this month they have changed the box slightly as it seems to have been made matte instead of shiny, I actually prefer them like this.
Glossybox Kryolan Highlighter
The first product in the box has been especially created for Glossybox by Kryolan and is a beautiful champagne coloured highlighter. I am really loving highlighting products to give my skin a healthy glow at the moment and after using this a couple of times I can say that I really like the glowy effect it has on my skin. The product feels really creamy and blends out a dream making it really difficult to create an unnatural finish to the skin.

Figs & Rouge Hand Cream
I am very much not a hand cream person; I like the smell of Nivea's hand creams, as well as Soap & Glorys' Hand Food. I was hoping that I would like this Figs & Rouge Hand Cream but... I really don't. The actual product is alright, it's just the smell I cannot stand! Apparently the smell is Rose Berry; I can't detect the smell of rose, nor can I smell berry, the scent is just so overpowering and I'm not a fan at all.
Yves Rocher Nail Polish
The only other Yves Rocher product I own is a sample size wrinkle cream, coincidentally from a previous Glossybox. This is a rather little bottle of nail polish in the shade 14. Rose, and it is now one of the cutest little bottles of polish I own! To be fair this pinky shade is not something you'll usually find on my nails but I'm sure I'll use it at some point or another.
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer
An interesting inclusion to the box, apparently this product was originally created for Audrey Hepburn, and is a pre-shampoo hair treatment. This claims to deliver 'unrivaled elasticity, manageability, bounce and shine,' however, I have yet to try this out as it does require adding extra time to your hair care regime. I do like the packaging; minimal but quite stylish.
Pep Cosmeceuticals Sun Cream
Sun cream is always useful to have and a mini 7ml bottle is perfect. I like this as it doesn't give your face a white tint like other sun cream does. It feels really light when applied and I feel like I'm not using any sun cream at all! This is probably because it is meant to be used daily as a day cream.
Lalique L'Amour Perfume
Ah the dreaded perfume sample...never really excites me and I've received way too many of these in Glossyboxes. This is Lalique L'Amour;it smells alright, but it is not the sort of perfume I wear regularly, it is however, better designed than most samples as it had a lid instead of a spray! Wooo!

All in all this birthday box has not been as exciting as it could have been, yes you got an extra product but I would have preferred more makeup items and maybe no perfume sample. The box is worth just over £33, most of that being made up by the highlighter. I am still excited to see what next months box has in store, fingers crossed for more makeup products!
