Skincare | Botanics Purifying Face Scrub

Botanics Purifying Face Scrub
I'm awful at remembering to use the correct skincare; my old regime used to consist of removing my makeup with my micellar water and then using a moisturiser, very bad I know, but the other week I decided to buy this Botanics face scrub.

Botanics is a brand exclusive to Boots but I have not tried many of their products, though I am not sure why as they seem such good value. The scrub I decided to buy had 1/3 off and was part of the All Bright range. The scrub is very gentle on my skin and doesn't scratch it at all. After using it my skin feels clearer and in a way smoother.

Since purchasing I have been using it every other day to clear my skin and I have seen an improvement. I can feel my makeup applying easier and my spots clearing too! I seriously regret not using a scrub sooner, I'd love to know your favourite scrubs so I can try out some new ones.

Empties | November

November Empties
First off I apologise for being a bad blogger, I haven't posted for a  good week and a bit as I have been preparing for the BigBlogMasProject2014, (which I am super excited about and kicks off 1st December,) and also I have been snowed under with endless coursework due soon! Anyway enough excuses and onto the post!

I rarely do empties posts but I always mean to this month I have finished five things that I think deserve mini reviews, but that don't have enough features to warrant a full review.

First up we have Soap&Glory Glad Hair Day Shampoo. This is a travel size bottle which I bought, along with the conditioner, (but as usual the conditioner gets finished first.) First of I can't say this did wonders for my hair, however, this smells amazing and made up for it's lack of unique features with this fact.

Next I have a sample size of Benefit POREfessional Primer, this is the second I have managed to get through and it's pretty damn good. I would probably buy the full size, but I simply have not needed to yet as the amount of sample sizes given away in magazines and beauty boxes alike is crazy!

Blowpro Volumising Conditioner is something I received in my Glossybox a while ago which I used accordingly but didn't fall in love with, mainly because I couldn't see much of a difference in my hair, smelt okay but wasn't any better than my usual conditioner.

Collection Cream Puff Matt Lip Cream does not get near enough blogger love as it should. Firstly it smells divine, vanillary, secondly it's a matte lip product that doesn't dry your lips out and finally... It doesn't peel like the MUA Luxe Lip Lacquers, (I will happily write a separate post on these if you are interested in the idea of a lip product peeling!)

My final empty is the Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturiser which I got in a bonus time and I actually loved it. As a dry skin sufferer I'm always on the lookout for hydrating moisturisers and this was  probably the closest I've come to an answer. As soon as the gel type moisturiser applies to the skin it instantly cools and you can almost feel the hydrating feel to it.

So I hope you enjoyed my post and I should be back blogging as usual very soon, not to mention blogging every day in December, feel free to wish me luck cause boy am I going to need it!

Ciate Advent Calendar

Ciate Advent Calendar
For those who are avid beauty blog reader you can probably tell that the picture above does not show this years Ciate advent calendar. Instead this shows last years calender, (I think,) as I found it as such an amazing price in TK Maxx.
Ciate Advent Calendar
If you are not familiar with TK Maxx it is one of those stores that you can literally find anything in but usually only one of each, like a car boot sale in a shop, as everything has a discount! The amazing price at which I found the calendar £19.99 when it's RRP was £52. For just under £20 there are 24 mini polishes and nail caviar's, what more could a beauty lover want from and advent calendar??
Ciate Advent Calendar
If you're one of those people who loves nail polish but can rarely get through a bottle I'd try this! I'm planning to update what each shade is like on my Instagram every week! Enjoy...

Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation

Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation
As you may know Rimmel are my holy grail brand when it comes to foundations, they have a light shade 010 Light Porcelain which suits my skin to perfection so it's an obvious decision on my part to want to try their newest foundation: Lasting Perfection Nude Foundation. I love Wake Me Up and Match Perfection, and use them most days, so I wanted to see if this was as good.

First off the packaging is almost identical to Match Perfection except for a slight colour change on the lid and pump. Rimmel also do the Lasting Finish Foundation, (however this seems to be its lighter counterpart with slightly less coverage.) Lasting Finish has an all red pump and lid whereas this has a white lid to show the lighter more natural looking finish this product gives.

Rimmel describe this as a medium coverage, skin perfecting foundation. If you have tried Match Perfection you will know that it has quite a thin consitency, and offers a low to medium buildable coverage. This seems to have a slightly thicker consistency but again is buildable.
Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation
As I have hardly used this I cannot give an in depth analysis but my first impressions are pretty good! It has a pump to ease with the dispensing the product and its smell isn't too bad either. I shall continue to use this and report back soon!

Things I Love About Being A Blogger

I haven't actually written and advice type post before, but after feeling down on Saturday night about people knowing about my blog I thought writing a post like this would A. help me and B. help others feeling the same.

First off I want to start with saying I absolutely love blogging, it's my corner of the Internet where I can write about anything I want, though I mainly stick to beauty as it is my passion. However, on Saturday I completely started to over think what would happen if people I know outside of blogging found my blog and how they'd view it etc, which is something I shouldn't be stressing about in the slightest as this is something I do as a hobby for my enjoyment. Followers and page views are simply numbers on a screen and I would blog even without them, (though to those who do follow I am very grateful that you like my writing!) I worked out that if people do find out I will cross that bridge when I come to it but for now I'm going to take each day as it comes and enjoy blogging like I should do anyway. To kick start this mindset I thought listing 3 reasons I love being a blogger would really benefit me and maybe some of you who feel the same as I did! So here goes nothing...

  1. The Community - When I first started I didn't realise there was so many bloggers, but now I have had the privilege to join in Twitter chats, guest post etc, my eyes have been opened to a whole new side of blogging and it is beautiful. Everyone is so supportive of each other and if ever you're in need of advice it is almost guaranteed that a friendly blogger can help!
  2. The Chance To Express Yourself - Your blog is your own piece of the Internet to say whatever you want, and don't let anyone tell you different. There is no right or wrong way to blog, there is only your way, and you should embrace being unique!
  3. Just Letting Go - I actually love the process of writing a post, from the photography and photo editing element, to the actual writing of a post and finally to being happy with the post and pressing publish. Within this process I am able to forget the whole world and get into my blogging mindset, delving into the wonderful world of beauty.
I know this post is a little different to usual, however, I thought it was needed and I'm really glad to have got this issue off my chest and I really hope this post may help you too!

Maybelline Color Drama Velvet Lip Pencils

Maybelline Color Drama Velvet Lip Pencils
After this release by Maybelline the blogosphere was full of reviews but I have decided to hold back before I blogged, which does mean I am slightly late on the bandwagon but I can live with that as I thought I should test them for a couple of weeks.

The two colours I picked up were Love My Pink and Minimalist. As you  might have heard these seem to be a pretty good dupe for the NARS Velvet Lip Pencils with less flash packaging. I must admit that the packaging isn't at all offensive to the eyes, in fact I rather like it. These lip pencils come in a thick pencil form; in between the traditional pencil and its newer counterpart, the retractable lip crayon. This pencil is slightly smaller than chubby sticks but still carries a very good amount of product.

This isn't the type of product that I would leave to roll around freely in the bottom of a bag as the lid is not the most secure and you would end up with a mush of colour and a blunt product that you can't apply. One of the few drawbacks of this product, that I can find, is the fact that it needs sharpening, and a jumbo sharpener at that, which may make this less user friendly if you, like me, do not always carry a sharpener with you wherever you go. However, every cloud has a silver lining, and in this case it is that when you sharpen the pencil it can become a lip liner which obviously makes the fact that you have to sharpen it a little more bearable.

I was instantly drawn to the colour Minimalist, a light pink with some peachy undertones. It is a really pretty nude lip colour, with a formula that doesn't show up dry patches too much.

The second colour I picked up was Love My Pink, quite a vibrant medium/dark pink which creates a quite a bright lip. The formula for this seems slightly softer than Minimalist, and strangely applies better. One other difference between the two is that Love My Pink has a scent, a sort of candy shop sweets smell!

So all in all these are brilliant. They are affordable, an apparent dupe and quite long lasting. What more could you ask for in a drugstore product? I really want to try the dark red pencil in this range and also a NARS velvet lip pencil so I can thoroughly compare them for you. Fingers crossed that Christmas may bring some pleasant surprises!

Best Of Benefit

Best Of Benefit
I loved writing my Best Of Rimmel post so much that another brand had to follow soon after, so I thought that Benefit would be the obvious choice due to the amount of Benefit I own, and how much I love their  products. I must admit it was a struggle to narrow it just down to five...

I think I'll start with That Gal brightening face primer, I currently use this more than many bloggers favourite The POREfessional, simply because I really like dewy skin in Winter as a matte finish shows up my dry skin. Not only does That Gal smells gorgeous it also creates and amazingly smooth base to apply foundation over.

Next is Boi-ing concealer, this is only a sample size however it's still going strong. The sample size of Boi-ing I have has two shades: 01 and 02, which mean I can use 01 to conceal and 02 to contour. The difference between the two is pretty significant but the coverage is the same! It is incredibly thick and creamy and covers pretty much everything!

It would be difficult to do a 'Best Of Benefit' without mentioning the cult favourite which is They're Real Mascara!  This is one of my most loved and used mascaras ever, it lengthens and defines my lashes beautifully, and is only just beaten by Tarte Lights Camera Lashes. The wand on They're Real is quite unique with a bally type bit on the end to ease application of the shorter lashes, if you have not managed to try this yet please, please do.

My penultimate product choice is the Highbeam highlighter, this little pot of lovliness is great for on the go top ups to sustain your glow throughout the day however, due to its staying power you're unlikely to have to!

My final product is the Kiss You Ultra Plus Lipgloss in  a stunning sheer orchid gloss! This smells like sweets and is perfect matched with Benefit Lolli Tint. I cannot stress enough how much I love and use this, it adds a great pop of colour to any outfit!
Best Of Benefit Swatches
I love writing these so if you have any requests for which brand I should do next I would be delighted to hear them!

BigBlogmasProject Introduction

As of the 1st of December I will be taking part in the BigBlogmasProject with over 70 other bloggers! This means I, and the other bloggers, will be posting every single throughout December on a range of topics from Winter to Christmas Decor to Gift Guides, and honestly I cannot wait to get started. I may have even drafted a post or two already!

If you want to get involved I would tweet Cole (@coleoftheball) who is coordinating the whole project you have until November 10th to get involved, the more the merrier in my opinion! If you want to join it the chat and see who's taking part, we use the hashtag #bblogmaschat, I think there is a chat every Monday at 8pm GMT!

I hope you're excited as I am raring to go, I also hope you get involved too! Any requests for Winter related posts during #BigBlogmasProject?

Pomegranate and Pineapple

Pomegranate and Pineapple Candle
As the nights draw in and it gets colder I start to burn more and more candles, it just makes my room feel all warm and cozy. The candle I have to show you today is one I found while browsing in Clintons Cards. It was by accident that I found this particular candle as I started off just looking at the jars and jars of Yankee Candles and then hidden next to them was a display of these candles!

There was a selection of about six different scents in two different jar styles. I opted for the tin but there was also a glass jar with two wicks. The tin cost £7.99 which is more than I would usually spend on a candle (IKEA candles all the way!) But I couldn't resist this particular candle as it smelt so damn good! As the title suggests it smells of Pomegranate and Pineapple, it is the nicest fruity smelling candle I have ever come across bar Mango Peach Salsa by Yankee Candle. The fragrance is sweet and reminds me of boiled sweets in Summer, yum! The picture doesn't illustrate how nice the tin is, it has a beautiful label and once I have finished the candle, (which will be pretty soon,) I am going to use it to store things in!

If you have any candle recommendations for me I will happily check them out next time I'm out shopping!
