Photo Diary - Day 24

Over the past 24 days I have been updating my Instagram, so today I thought I'd put together those photos in a little photo diary!

Now I didn't want to go into detail about each image as that information can be found on my Insta, but I thought you might still like to see what I've been posting. I hope your Christmas Eve is good, we're currently tracking Santa with my little brother, so I only had time for a short post... Merry Christmas!

Favourite Blogmas Posts - Day 23

It's the penultimate day of blogmas, so I thought it would be a good idea to share some blogger love, showing you my favourite posts by other bloggers!

Blogmas Posts

There are eleven posts that I loved reading and I have saved so I could share with you. Please look at them and tell me if you like them! I'm so excited for Christmas...ahhhhh!!

Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty - Day 22

I saw this tag on Toasty Writes and thought it would be a perfect addition to Blogmas, if you end up doing this tag or have already please comment me a link so I can read it!

Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty

Greed: Which is your most inexpensive beauty item? Which is your most expensive?
Pretty much all my makeup comes from the drugstore, bar a few items that I have received as gifts or I bought myself as a treat. MUA, Makeup Revolution and Essence probably are the least expensive in my collection. As for the most expensive? That is probably my MAC Custom Quad, at £10.50 a shadow, plus the palette itself it cost about £6.50 so it's not cheap, but it is pretty!

Wrath: Which beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? Which product has been the hardest to get?
Much as I love my eyeliner, unless I have hours, it doesn't look perfect. So I'd have to say eyeliner. As for hardest product to get, this is more difficult to think of. I would probably have to say my MAC Cranberry Pro Palette Shadow. I had to wait for so long for Debenhams to have it in stock!

Gluttony: Which are your delicious beauty products?
Honestly looks wise it has to be my Maybelline Color Tattoo in Light-in-Purple, I have a post coming up in January, stay tuned! Smell/taste wise, (hint it's a lip product,) it has to be any Benefit lip gloss they smell and taste amazing, you need to try one.

Sloth: Which products do you neglect due to laziness?
Hmm, difficult but often I neglect to use a primer. When I do my makeup stays flawless, but it just adds extra time to my routine, which I don't really have when I get up late...

Pride: Which products give you the most self confidence?
A sharp, clean cat eye flick. Nothing makes me feel more confident than that. Lined eyes allow me to face the world. Of course brows are necessary too, mine are quite light and can get lost unless I take time to fill them in.

Lust: Which products are you currently lusting after?
Okay, it has to be the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. I mean, have you seen it? It is stunning, gorgeous, beautiful. I need it so much!

Envy: Which product would you like to receive as a gift?
If not the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette then anything from Charlotte Tilbury. The packaging is to die for and the products sound so so amazing!

So there you have it, my take on the 7 Deadly Sins of Beauty. Don't forget to send me your post links!

Christmas Checklist - Day 21

We're so nearly there! But have you done everything you need to? Don't worry I've got you covered with a quick checklist to go through!

Christmas Checklist

Have you:

Sent a letter to Father Christmas?
Bought all the food?
Got enough drinks and alcohol?
Decorated the house?
Put up the tree?
Bought all your table essentials?
Found the perfect Christmas crackers?
Left out sherry and carrots for Father Christmas and his reindeers?
Made a Snowman? (if possible!)
Written and sent Christmas cards?
Finished your Christmas shopping?
Wrapped all your presents?
Found the classic movies?

So there are 13 different  things to tick off once you're done, I'm sure there's a million more as no two Christmas' will be alike! I really hope I can build a snowman...

Films I Watch at Christmas - Day 20

I'm a sucker for a good Christmas film and there are a few that I love to watch in the run up which I thought you might like to see, if you're looking for a few more Christmas watches...

Gremlins is usually a forgotten one, but it is in fact a Christmas film. I only started watching this last Christmas but it's being watched this Christmas too. Then is another less Christmas related film in Harry Potter and The Philosophers Stone, it's not too festive but there is a tree and snow, as well as feasts so I count it as one. Now the properly Christmas ones: The Polar Express, it's a classic in my house, the animation is creepily similar to real people and at the same time not, yet I'll still watch it, you can't get much more festive really. The Holiday, is cute, sad and makes me want to go to LA or rent a small cottage for Christmas and New Year. Finally is Rise of the Guardians, probably the latest release on my list, it's such a good, fun, family film, if you haven't seen it I'd definitely give it a watch.

What films do you watch at Christmas?

My Perfect Christmas - Day 19

It's really not long till Christmas now and I thought I would sit down and think about what would make a perfect Christmas for me! It's only a short post today, but I hope you'll like it!

If I'm honest, I would love to see some snow, light dusting or more substantial, either would be nice just to get that 'White Christmas' feel to it. Obviously Christmas about family and I'm lucky enough to be spending it with them, we're going to my aunts for dinner so there will be an array of games and films to entertain everyone. We also often do scratchcards, no one ever wins but it's still a laugh! I also love watching my brothers hand out everyone's presents.

There are a few things that make my perfect Christmas, what makes yours?

Last Minute Gifts For Him - Day 18

There's always someone we forget to buy for, and for me its usually my brothers. Coincidentally I find them really difficult to buy for, my friends are easy: they love makeup, but my brothers, not so much! This year I am prepared *I think* so I thought I'd put together a last minute gift guide for those who are running out of time or have forgotten to get something. Because we're fast approaching Christmas, all these gifts are available from retailers with physical stores so you'll be able to pop in and get something easily!

How to Organise Your Blog at Christmas - Day 16

Christmas time is busy, I think most of us will agree, and sometimes it might mean our blogs get neglected, but I thought I'd share my tips on how to keep your blog up to date!

Blog Organisation ad Christmas

  1. Schedule, schedule, schedule!
I actually started writing this post on the 9th of December, I was very organised this year. I planned Blogmas in November and started writing posts as soon as I finished the November posts. Scheduling your posts is key, especially if you're planning to go away for the holidays.

I don't just mean posts when I talk about scheduling, you can also schedule tweets and Instagram posts using sites such as Hootsuite. Things like this are lifesavers, I like to tweet quite a few times a day usually but I don't have time to individually send each one so I schedule. As for Instagram, I don't schedule quite as much but if you're used to posting everyday this would be useful for you.

  2. Set Aside Time
Christmas is busy, there's no argument there so plan when you're going to blog, plan when to take photos and plan when to schedule your tweets. It really does help. If you're at work all day then maybe find time at the weekend, or after dinner.

  3. Don't be afraid to take a break
I have decided that after the 25th of December I am taking a break until January, because I want a stress free Christmas break. This is totally optional of course but it might be beneficial to take a small break welcome in the new year with a plan and no stress!

So those are the ways I am organising my blog over Christmas, hopefully it will help you too!

Christmas Wishlist - Day 15

10 days to go and today I thought I would show you my wishlist. Obviously it is mainly beauty because, well I'm a beauty blogger! Some of the items are out of stock already, boo, but I'll still put links to everything so you can take a look!

Christmas Beauty Wishlist

First on my list is Lush's Snow Fairy's Castle gift set which has an array of Snow Fairy smelling goodness. Then is a perfume that just hasn't got any gift sets this year, I wish they did, but it is Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Forever, I prefer this slightly from Daisy Dream. Then there is the most gorgeous palette from MAC, the x15 Cool Neutrals which I have been eyeing up for so long. Also the RealTechniques Sculpting Set, as I have been getting into contouring lately but I don't have the right tools to do so. Another Lush gift, this time it is the Sweet Christmas set which has a few more goodies than Snow Fairy's Castle. Now this is the sold out one: the NARS Cool Red Lip Set, so sad face for that but it was a kit of cute minis, and I love minis. The only non beauty item is Season 1&2 of Orphan Black, I watched the third series on iPlayer but couldn't watch 1 and 2 and I really want to! Finally is the cute little Too Faced Long Lasting Nude gift set, it has one of their Melted Lipsticks as well as a Love Flush Blush!

I would love to know what is on your wish list, please leave a link for me in the comments!

Cute Winter Clothes - Day 14

I'll now admit that it is Winter. And as I admit this I also realise the Winter clothes I own are not many...oops... So in light of this fact I put together a  few bits I liked into a collage to show you what I would have bought if I had thought far enough ahead...

I love the cute little penguin jumper and the Christmassy leggings most. I will end up getting all these bits in the sales to come when it starts getting warmer, my logic is great I know, so maybe next year my Winter wardrobe will actually exist! What are your must haves for Wintery clothes this year?

Beauty Stocking Fillers - Day 13

Now in my house we all love stockings, (sometimes pillowcases if we can't find the stockings!) But sometimes we need a change from plastic bits and bobs and chocolate coins, sometimes we need beauty minis and Boots and Superdrug have that covered!

I hope you like my picks for beauty stocking fillers, I want them all, maybe I should hint to my parents? I love Christmas shopping, but sadly mine is already finished, bring on next year!

Christmas Party Red Lips - Day 12

If any time of year is the time to wear a red lip it has to be Christmas. It's bright, it's bold and it's festive: everything you need to make a good impression!

Christmas Red Lipsticks

Look how gorgeous the red lipsticks look! Just in the bullet they are stunning. The three I have chose are all for different reasons. The NYX Monte Carlo Lip Cream is the long lasting shade that fades to a dark pink stain. It is so easy to apply due to its doe foot applicator and wearing it is so comfortable, Wintery dry lips are nowhere to be seen! Next up is the Bella Pierre lipstick in Ruby. This is included just for its amazing colour, it is such a bright red, you will definitely get noticed in this, just don't forget to take it with you for top ups. Finally I couldn't not mention Illamasqua Sangers, the matte lipstick which stole my heart. It's long lasting, easy to apply and doesn't show dry patches, it is the perfect matte. Below are the swatches in the wrong order apologies for that, the swatches go Bella Pierre, Illamasqua and finally NYX.

Christmas Red Lipstick Swatches

So will you be rocking a red lip come party season, or do you prefer a nude with a smoky eye? Perhaps you go for an even bolder lip colour, sky blue anyone?

Lush Christmas Haul - Blogmas Day 11

What's Christmas without a little Lush purchase? Venturing into the sweet smelling store of wonder is something everyone should experience at least once in their lives. This year was no different and in I went and out I came with a bag full of goodies. (Obviously this was after the lady at the till informed me that the man at the till next to her thought there were little people running round the till messing it up!)

Christmas Lush Haul

I tried to steer away from my usual purchases like the Comforter bubble bar and go for the more Christmassy bits and bobs. Therefore I chose Snow Fairy, So White and Candy Mountain.

I purchased this the year before last because it looks pretty and also because it smells divine. Candy Mountain is just wonderful, sweet smelling, a bit like Snow Fairy. It reminds me of how I imagine all sweet shops should smell.

Now this particular bath bomb, So White, doesn't look too impressive, but what it lacks in appearance it makes up for in smell. I love apples, the smell, the fruit, so this is right up my street. This white ball of goodness is going into my bath ASAP!

Finally, it's Christmas and I couldn't leave Lush without picking up the iconic Snow Fairy shower gel. This smells like candyfloss, and who doesn't love a bit of candyfloss? This has already motivated me to wash my makeup brushes and now they smell so good it's unreal! Makes me want to do my makeup more often now.

Have you been swayed into making a Lush purchase yet? Have you got your eye on anything in particular?

Quick & Easy Christmas Presents - Day 10

As mentioned in my Money Saving Tips post, I love outlet shops at Christmas, they allow me to put together the most personalised little gifts really easily. Today I thought I would let you know how I do it!

Quick & Easy Christmas Presents

Now the little gift above cost me a grand total of £6.30. This includes inside three Body Shop travel size products, usually costing around £9.00. You should really try the Body Shop Outlet, it is so useful. The way I managed to get the products was because they always seem to do packs of 4 with considerable discount. For example normally a hand sanitiser is £2.50 each, however I got 4 for only £6. Similarly for the Christmassy hand creams; usually £4.00 each, but in this case they were 4 for £12.00, so a pound saving. You can get the larger size products including body butters and even shower gels, perfect for DIY gifts such as this!

DIY Gifts

If you're wondering how the packaging cost was so low it was because I used things I had readily available. Tissue paper and ribbons from old Glossyboxes and shredded paper from my YouBeautyDiscovery boxes as well as the box itself. I also had some Bambi wrapping paper lying about and thought it would be rude not to use that too.

The first thing I did was to wrap up the box with the utterly adorable wrapping paper, a Primark find! The YouBeauty box wasn't the prettiest of boxes and Bambi just makes everything better, Bambi is almost as good as Ariel, not quite though. Then I used the shredded paper from previous YouBeauty boxes to line it so the products wouldn't roll around, and so they could be presented nicely.

I finished of the gift with a ribbon tied in a bow just to make it look pretty. I'm making around 5 of these cute little gifts, all worth around the £6.00- £9.00 mark as some have three and some have four miniatures. Not all have boxes, as Poundland do really cute gift bags with bears on!

Will you be trying this gift idea or do you prefer to completely DIY your gifts?

Party Outfits - Day 9

Christmas/New Year, it's party season really and while I'll be working new year boo! I still like to browse through the party clothes and I put together a few outfits I might wear. Maybe next year I'll get the chance!

Christmas Party Outfits

Winter Nail Polishes - Day 8

I love Wintery nail polish almost as much as I love pastel colours for Spring. Lots of people like the dark purples, reds and blacks for Winter but I am one for glittery, snowy shades like the ones I'm going to show you today.

Wintery Nail Polishes

The first colour I like for Winter is the Ciate Chinchilla. It is a blue/grey shade, sort of like the sky in December at times, it is a neutral colour at the same time as being a bit different. A modern take on the nude nail. Next is the only dark colour in my selection: Sally Hansen Night Watch, a deep blue very Wintery, in my opinion. I love the brush on this, it's so wide and covers the nail in only a couple of applications.

Winter Nail Polish Swatches

The next three polishes are all top coats, the first being BarryM's Christmas Tree. This has holographic stars and glitter in silver, green and red. I love this for an accent nail nearer Christmas. One of  my favourite top coats is the OPI Snow Globetrotter, this looks like snow. If I've got a dark nail I'll add Snow Globetrotter over the top to create a snowy night scene. Finally is a relatively new  polish in my collection the gorgeous L'Oreal Diamond Carat top coat. This is pure glitter and it is wonderful, I love it on all my nails over a white base, so stunning!

Winter Nail Polish Swatches

So those are what will be on my nails this coming months, what about you?

Christmas Money Saving Tips - Day 7

Let's be honest, Christmas is expensive, even if you're not the one hosting. Presents alone could cost hundreds, so money saving is of high importance. I'll admit I am not necessarily the most experienced when it comes to saving money, (I'm only 16,) but even I have a few ways of saving money at Christmas!

  1. Set A Budget
The most important tip of all. If you don't have a budget you'll almost certainly spend more than you think. I set myself a limit of £100 for all presents. Hopefully I will spend less that that, but I definitely won't spend more.

  2. Reuse Old Decorations
Most people do this already, but I know a few who buy new decorations every year. My tree has many old decorations, some that I made at nursery, they're almost a Christmas tradition. So there is no reason to shell out on £50 worth of decorations when the ones in the loft will do perfectly fine.

  3. Shop in the Sales
Black Friday and Cyber Monday were when I bought a few of the presents I'm giving. Everywhere had sales on and I took full advantage. I know that those sales are now over, but don't forget Boots have their 3 for 2 offer on and Superdrug are decreasing most gift set prices throughout the month.

  4. Try an Outlet Store
A couple of weeks ago I popped along to Swindon Designer Outlet to get some presents. The Body Shop outlet is the best place for presents. They sell multipacks reduced by loads which can be split up into presents for many people, see Thursdays post for how I'm turning them into presents.

  5. Make Something
If you're arty you can always give DIY gifts. Paint a picture or decorate a photo frame. Make tree decorations, bake some cookies or a DIY hot chocolate kit. It won't break the bank.

Like I said earlier, I don't have to pay for the food I am only 16, but I still like to make sure I don't spend too much at Christmas. What are your best tips?

Winter Lipsticks for Pale Skin - Day 6

It's Winter and we know what that means: berry lipsticks, everywhere. I must admit, I am not one to usually opt for a berry lipstick, I actually don't own many. I find they make me look ghostly so I've chosen three other colours which will be on my lips all the time!

Winter Lipsticks For Pale Skin
First there has to be a neutral, what can I say, it's a force of habit, I always reach for a nude. The obvious choice for a lipstick is Peach Blossom, I won this in a giveaway and it is one of my most used shades. It has the gorgeous MAC consistency and a colour as gorgeous to match.

Next is probably the most berry type shade I own and it is Seduction by Collection. It's not too red which doesn't make it too bright, perfect for Winter when you're trying not to bring attention to your chapped lips. Also the smell of this is sweet and reminds me of Christmas.

Finally is the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo. I really like the lip creams texture and how they apply, perfect for the Winter months. Monte Carlo is the bright red, so it is quite bold but don't fear it, it is really flattering!

Winter Lipsticks For Pale Skin Swatches

What colours do you like for Winter, are you a berry lover? Are there any berry lipsticks that you think flatter the very pale?

My Advent Calendar - Day 4

While the beauty advent calendars looked amazing I just couldn't afford one sadly so I went with good old chocolate. But not just any chocolate, Hotel Chocolat chocolate!

Hotel Chocolat Advent Calendar

If you've never been to Hotel Chocolat you are seriously missing out, their chocolate is divine! My favourite kind of chocolate is dark so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get a dark chocolate calendar. 24 cute little chocolate figures to enjoy in the build up for Christmas.

Maybe next year I will get a beauty advent calendar, I had my eye on this years Charlotte Tilbury one! What calendar do you have this year? Or which one did you wish for?

Christmas Beauty Baubles - Day 3

I don't know about you but I am so over having the same old same old baubles on my tree. Every year it's the same ones, it is time for a change. First we saw the rise of the beauty advent calendars and now it is time for the rise of the beauty baubles. Now you can decorate your tree with baubles full of beauty goodness and because of this my post today contains all of the beauty baubles I could find that are available for your tree this year! Free Christmas Fonts - Day 2

When I was designing a header for my 24 Days of Blogmas Post Ideas, I looked for a font which would instantly scream 'Christmas' and I was amazed at how many there were to choose from. So then I got the idea to put together a few of them in a post for you to use, they are all free for personal use so go wild why don't you!

I hope you like the fonts I found, maybe I'll spot them on your blogs soon!

Winter Pampering - Day 1

Welcome to the first day of the 24 Days of Blogmas, today I thought we would start with winter pampering. Now it's December, we've finally started to accept that it is not autumn anymore and Christmas is allowed to start, but we must not forget that we all need a little pampering every now and then.

Winter Pampering

I've done a number of posts on pampering or treating yourself because we all need a bit of TLC from time to time. But I must say, in winter especially, we need to make time for ourselves, rushing around at work, dashing from shop to shop buying presents, we're going to need to relax at some point, so schedule in an allotted amount of time a week to spend on you.

First thing you'll need to pamper yourself is a nice scented candle. Personally I love fruit candles like the Yankee Candle Pineapple Cilantro but whatever makes you relax is what you should choose. Once you've got a candle lit, turn off your phone and shut down your laptop, no one needs the stress while they're relaxing, then reach for your favourite movie or escape technology completely. If you choose to escape all technology, I recommend taking a bath with your favourite bath bomb, I'll always choose the Comforter from Lush. If you don't mind the technology, opt for a face mask and sit back watching whatever you like. Also don't neglect your hands; the cold winter days do it no favours, treat them to hand cream and paint your nails pretty colours, it'll instantly perk them up.

It's always the little things that make you feel better, so don't forget to relax a little during December!

Sudocrem... But Not As You Know It

If I said 'Sudocrem,' I'm pretty sure that your first though would be babies. Sudocrem is renowned for it's nappy rash healing properties so when I was asked if I would like to try the fairly new Sudocrem Skincare Cream* I was fairly sceptical at first.

Sudocrem Skin Care Cream

However, once the tube arrived and I researched a little more, I got to understand the differences between Sudocrem and Sudocrem Skin Care Cream*. Firstly it's a tube not a tub, granted that is not the most important difference but it should be taken into account. From there on I noted that it called itself the 'grown up' version with the same ingredients in different proportions. It is targeted at teenagers and young adults with spot prone skin, (so perfect for me.) It is also claimed that it can soothe rashes and dry patches, as well as helping maintain healthy skin - bold claims.

There seem to be many uses for the new Sudocrem so I put a few to the test:

1. As a spot cream - I get lots of random spots popping up every now and then and need something to get rid quick or I will pop them. (Yeah, I'm gross.) So I applied a bit of Sudocrem overnight to see if it would make a difference and I was happy to see that they weren't quite as noticeable, not gone but less red.

2. To clear up dry patches - If you've been reading MissCosmeticBlogger for a while you'll have heard about my dry skin and infamous dry skin around my nose. So like for the spot test I applied some of the cream around my nose and left it overnight. It actually made quite a nice impact on my skin, not all of the dry skin was gone only a good exfoliating face mask does that, but it was easier to apply makeup over.

3. As a moisturiser - Those who have used regular Sudocrem will remember the bright white colouring of the cream, and this made me wary when using as a moisturiser as I expected a white sheen to cover my face. To be honest I find it waaaay too thick to use as a daily moisturiser, also it takes more application time which I don't always have time for.

4. As a face mask - If I am honest, I couldn't bring myself to use this as a face mask, I just felt it would feel too thick on my skin. Sorry.

Sudocrem Skin Care Cream
Now the tube contains 30g, but I can't say I am a fan of the tube itself. The Sudocrem has too thick of a consistency to come in a tube, it takes a lot of effort to dispense and I imagine the more you use the harder to get out it will become.

Overall, this is a budget friendly (£2.11) product which is actually not bad. I prefer it as a quick fix for dry skin and spots, but you never know, you might love it as a moisturiser. Have you tried it? What did you think?

*Products marked with a star were sent to me to review. Whilst they were sent to me all opinions are my own and 100% honest.

Makeup stores dedicated to one brand were obviously going to be a hit, but why have they only just started appearing now. KIKO have definitely got the right idea; every product they sell, in every shade they have, in one shop. We don't always want the items chosen for the likes of Boots or Superdrug so this way we can chose exactly what we want.

I could have honestly spent hours in the KIKO store, there was so much to see and swatch, luckily I didn't bankrupt myself, however tempting it was. What I did get were three really good quality products which I've used a lot since I purchased them.

First off I got the Pencil Lip Gloss in 07 Baby Pink. This looks like it will have a chubby sticky type consistency, however it is how it describes itself: a lip gloss. Baby Pink is a neutral pink which is a 'my lips but better' shade, it's pencil like for makes application on the go really easy.

I don't have time to do fancy eyeshadow everyday so I'm always looking for quick but stunning no fuss alternatives to powder shadows. Enter now the KIKO Long Lasting Stick in 25 Light Taupe. This shade doesn't look like much, but I apply it to my lid and blend out with my finger. Blending it is so easy and it just adds an extra dimension to my eyes.

Finally is probably the most gorgeous looking eyeshadow I have ever seen. This is part of the Rebel Romantic collection and is the Metallic Shine Eyeshadow in 01 Superb Beige. It is an iridescent beigey pink which is perfect for an inner corner highlight or to brighter the eyelid, honestly it is beautiful!

The swatches above just don't do justice to the Metallic Eyeshadow it is so much prettier in real life. Overall my first experience with KIKO was very positive, I'm creating a wishlist already! Have you tried anything from KIKO?
