Vichy Dermablend Review*

Wednesday, 1 June 2016
Everyone experiences bad skin days, I am not exempt. However, being exceptionally pale and having dry skin too, makes it really difficult to find a foundation that really covers those days up. If I'm honest I didn't have high hopes when it came to the Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation* but I was very pleasantly surprised!

Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation and Setting Powder

So there are the two products in my bad day arsenal, the packaging isn't too flashy which I quite like because it makes them seem like they do the job as the product was focused on most. I was kindly sent the Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation* and Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder*. I have had my eye on the foundation for a while but their shade selection was just not light enough as it went only to 15 Opal. Luckily they have extended their shade range adding 05 Porcelain, 65 Coffee and 85 Espresso. Unsurprisingly I went for 05 Porcelain because nothing else was going to suit me.

Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation

So Vichy say that the foundation includes a high concentration of pigments that provide better coverage than a normal foundation but with an ultra blendable texture to give a natural, flawless result. Apparently it lasts a whole 16 hours but I have no reason to test this at all because my makeup never needs to last anywhere near that long. It has no noticeable scent which is good for those with sensitive skin and it also isn't particularly drying.

Vichy Dermablend 05 Swatch

Now the swatch looks really scary and yellow but when blended out that's not the case at all. I find that if I've caught the sun this is the perfect shade for me. However, when I haven't I just mix a little bit of my normal foundation with it and it works perfectly. I find that this doesn't cling to my dry patches thank the lord! and gives great coverage, on a good skin day I don't need any concealer either. I will say though that if you don't want to look like you're wearing foundation this isn't one for you, just because although it is natural it is higher coverage and trying to 'blur' any imperfections. This blends like a dream, it's wonderful and means that I don't have to worry that it looks like I am wearing an orange mask on my face. (Badly colour matched Clinique foundation I'm talking to you!)

Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder

I have been looking for a powder to try baking with after my disastrous attempt with a not so translucent MUA one. (That's a story for a rainy day!) This is translucent, there's no two ways about it, anyone can use this, and I think it is a really nice powder. I find loose powders quite fiddly if I'm honest but I see their advantages too. This has a little powder puff to stop powder spilling everywhere and I am grateful because I am so clumsy. I am sure you can find a powder that does the same for less but this one has no faults in my eyes.

The foundation isn't drugstore, while you will find it in Boots it is £18 and the powder £15. I think for the coverage and lack of emphasis on my dry patches I will probably end up repurchasing unless I find a significantly cheaper but still as good alternative.

Have you tried the Dermablend range?

  3. I do like this foundation, but I don't often reach for it. I have so many others that tick more boxes. But I do love love the powder, I apply it with my beauty blender then brush off any excess. Been so good at keeping on my foundation xx
