Exam Organisation: Study Won't Get You Down

Scarily when this publishes I will have less than two months till exams. In fact in two months time I will have already completed three and be getting ready to sit down to do a forth, which is rather terrifying really! Anyway I've been trying to work out how not to get myself completely worked up over study because even though it is important so is not stressing out. While I'm no pro at exam organisation I am 100x better than I was last year!

ALevel Revision Tips


  1. Use an app to schedule study.
    I use MyStudyPlan where you can log in your exam dates, lessons and availability and it will create you a study plan. Even better it lets you prioritise certain subjects if you think they need a little extra looking over. I love being able to tick off the study it gives me more freedom to then do what I want.
  2. Separate your study and leisure areas.
    One I've been very guilty of is studying from the comfort of my bed. Now this really won't help as it ends up stressing you out. If the place you relax is the place you study you'll find that you'll stay in a study mind frame even when trying to unwind.
  3. Know when to stop.
    I've been finding that lately I really struggle to switch off. I've actually felt guilty because I wasn't studying, which honestly felt shit. I had a little meltdown this day and eventually sorted a plan for days I just didn't feel like studying. Normally I would copy up notes, do practise papers etc however on days I'm completely drained I will read a book on the subject or watch a documentary as I won't learn anything if I force it.
  4. Sort out timings.
    I've noticed myself staying up later and later into the night trying to study and it's really not working so much as I dislike waking early, it helps me not lose the whole day to study. I got into college early on Thursdays to do exam papers now which means I have less study at home that night. Also instead of getting up at midday on weekends (although if I've been working it's an exception,) I set an alarm for 10ish with the aim of starting revision at 11, then I will be done by 3/4ish and still have some 'me time'.
  5. Stress baking.
    Now it's bad for the waist but great for revision and stress busting purposes. Whenever I get too stressed I shut my books and bake, mainly brownies thus far. It leaves me with the perfect revision motivation and gives me an hour off concentrating on something else. It really works!
