Stressed Skin? Show it Some Love with Newtons Labs*

Saturday, 29 April 2017
I imagine you're sick to death of hearing about me moan on about the fact I'm doing exams, but here's another post, slightly less moany you'll be happy to hear. Instead today's post is going to be about some skincare from Newtons Labs I have been testing!

Newton Labs Skincare Review

I was contacted at the start of March by the lovely Rhiannon and asked if I would like to try some skincare from Newtons Labs. As a heavily stressed student with breakouts sprouting every few minutes, I said I would love to as anything that could help me out is worth a try. I was kindly sent over a bundle of their bestsellers including the Cleansing Cream Wash*, Blackhead Fighting Facial Scrub*, Charcoal Nose Pore Strips* and Spot Zapping Gel*. The reason I'm only writing this post up now is because let's be honest skincare needs a decent amount of testing before you can give it a good review. So now I've tested it for almost two months I thought I'd let you know how I got on with it.

Starting with the basics and the Cleansing Cream Wash* it has the kind of scent which give off the impression it really works, none of these fruity scents in sight. It has quite a basic consistency, though it is more runny than you'd expect, as I found out when I ended up using almost a handful for my face. My favourite thing about this is it is quite good at removing mascara which I wasn't expecting. While it doesn't melt makeup off the skin like Soap&Glory's Peaches and Clean it still does a pretty good job. Also I was a tad worried about how this would make my skin feel after washing as my skin is notoriously dry. I still get the tight feeling afterwards but that's normal for me. The Blackhead Fighting Facial Scrub* is probably my favourite product out of the four and maybe even my favourite scrub ever! (Yes I went there.) The scrub isn't too harsh on my sensitive skin, the scrubby bit is gentle but does a very good job, it gets off the dry skin without leaving it red and sore like some scrubs I have tried. This shares the same scent as the cleansing cream, which really isn't unpleasant.

Next for the more interesting products. Firstly the Charcoal Nose Pore Strips*. If you've read MissCosmeticBlogger for a while you'll know I find these hit and miss; the 'hyped' Biore ones did not work for me and I wasted a pretty penny on them. Anyway, I put those thoughts aside when I tried the strips. You apply like any other and wait and then magic happened. IT FOUND SOME BLACKHEADS, HALLELUJAH! Sorry for shouting there but this is a revelation for my skin as few treatments I have tried actually impress me. So if you're wondering whether to try some pore strips, try these as you get 6 and they work. Now for the Spot Zapper*, I've tried a few variants of this type one from Simple which was more a cooling gel. The Spot Zapper is perfect for slipping in your bag for any emergencies, and it dries down really quickly. I don't think this necessarily 'zaps' your spots however it does calm the angry red ones into more manageable and concealable blemishes. It might work for other skin types in different ways but for me it's a calming gel.

Before I sign off this post I obviously need to tell you if it clear up your skin, and it did in my case. I'm lucky to have quite clear skin; usually though, stress is it's downfall. When I'm stressed I get blemishes across my forehead and chin, and especially around my lips, which is rather irritating. Throughout the time I have been using these products my stress levels have certainly risen and the skincare has risen to the challenge to match it. Nothing clears up instantly but it only took a couple of days to take effect and the scrub worked wonders on my dry patches.

If you asked what I recommend you try first and foremost the scrub, it could become my holy grail! Then pore strips, because they actually worked for me. I'll be honest, this range is probably best suited to teens like my self or those suffering with breakouts, luckily it's affordable and can be found in Home Bargains as well as B&M Stores, so keep your eyes open!
