Strange though it seems, I rarely go out and spend an extortionate amount of money while shopping. Instead my money disappears on little purchases here and there. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but I did go shopping last week with my auntie (who is very good at helping me spend money,) and I made a few substantial purchases. One of which I received a free gift with and I’m going to share it with you today.
With two Clarins purchases you received a five piece gift set, packed full of some of their best sellers. My auntie needed a face cream and I had been lusting after their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 05. We pooled our purchases together and got the cute little set. She kindly said it was all mine and I got to choose between a firming or hydrating set. Obviously, if you’ve been reading MissCosmeticBlogger for a while now you’ll know that my skin is dry and I chose the hydration kit.
The little kit came in the most summery green and blue makeup bag. It feels really good quality and should be able to take the beating of being put in your hand luggage or suitcase, if you’re lucky enough to be going on a holiday. The products inside are actually really impressive sizes, I wasn’t expecting much as some brands are rather stingy with gifts, but evidently not Clarins.
The most impressive of the gift is an 100ml tube of the Moisture-Rich Body Lotion. I’ve been using up my stash of lotions lately so this is a welcome addition to my collection. It doesn’t have the most out there scent, but it’s certainly pleasant. There is a 15ml tube of their Gentle Refiner exfoliating cream, which at first had me worried when it said it contained microbeads (as they’re very bad for the environment,) but luckily they’re natural and I will use this. As it was included in the kit for dry skin hopefully it will be gentle but also effective at getting off my dry skin. Also included is a 15ml tube of their Beauty Flash Balm, apparently it brightens, tightens and gives tired skin instant radiance – perhaps one for uni? The final 15ml tube is of the Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream SPF 15. I’ve tried this before and quite liked it, I’m not sure it was quite on par with my Clinique Moisture Surge but I’ll definitely give it another go. Last but not least in the kit was a mini of the Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil. I have been thinking about getting one of these for months as every blogger and their dog seems to love these. If the free gift was just the mini lip oil I would have been more than happy. This is the only product I have started using already, mainly as I have super dry lips all year round, and I am absolutely loving it!
As I’m a bargain hunter I tend to like working out how much the little gifts are actually worth in total, because it lets you know how good of a deal this was! Now I couldn’t find how many ml the lip oil contained so I just excluded it from my calculations. It ended up that the kit without lip oil is worth an amazing £43, which means overall it’s probably worth around £50 which is not to be sniffed at. I always think that if you’re planning to make a big-ish skincare or makeup purchase, to check what deals and free gifts are available. Clarins offer sets like this one, Clinique do Bonus Time and Estee Lauder do a gift from time to time. Also never forget to check online, lots of places have codes which get you free gifts, especially Benefit. I was very happy with this set, as you can probably tell. From using the lip oil only a couple of times I can already tell I will probably purchase a tinted one soon – and I suppose that is what these gifts are really for: exposing us to products we might want to buy, but I’m okay with that as everyone loves a freebie!
