My Auntie flies in from Dubai every so often and last time she did, she kindly asked if I would like a couple of bits from Sephora. Of course, as someone who does not have easy access to a Sephora I jumped at the chance to choose a couple of bits, one of which was this cute set of Huda Beauty mini lipsticks.
These Huda Beauty lipsticks come in a set of four, each with 1.9ml of product in them. I personally went for the red set, it was my second choice but the pink was out of stock. The four shades in the red set are Heartbreaker, Material Girl, Showgirl and Famous. Heartbreaker is a true pillarbox red. Material Girl is a deeper more purple shade. Showgirl is the show stopper, a metallic berry red. Famous is a darker berry purple. The formula is quite thin, but it is really easy to go overboard, this becomes a problem as they’re not the quickest at drying. I’ll be honest, at first I thought I wasn’t going to get on with these at all, I tried to take lip swatch shots and it just wasn’t playing ball. Then I finally realised that I wasn’t quite applying it properly. The doe foot applicator actually picks up loads more product than necessary, in reality the thinnest layer is all you need for a completely opaque coverage. I must admit that these are slightly drying on the lips, not to the extent that I found the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips did but there is noticeable drying. To be honest though, most lipsticks, liquid or otherwise, dry out my lips unless they’re specifically moisturising. I really like the packaging of these, the frosted glass is really elegant. I know it shouldn’t matter what the packaging looks like but it’s always nice when a product feels expensive.
The set of four comes in at £33, which isn’t particularly cheap working out at £11 per lipstick. The full size liquid lipsticks are £18 for 5ml of product just in a larger version of this packaging. I think little sets like these are perfect for people like me who don’t tend to wear lipstick everyday, also for those who like to try out a variety of lip colours minis are perfect to see whether you want to buy the larger size. I’ve got my eye on the Nude Love Collection of minis next as they look like beautiful shades.
