I’m very late on the bandwagon with liquid lipsticks. I still rarely wear them even now because I have horribly dry lips and so far every formula I’ve tried has made them worse (even when my lips are in tip top condition.) I finally caved in and decided to try the Jouer Lip Cremes, in the hope that their creamy textures would suit my lips better.
First thing’s first I really like the packaging, it’s so different to any of my other liquid lipsticks which makes them easier for me to get to in a hurry. Also the texture of the lipstick is by far the nicest I have tried, it’s moussey or creamy as the name would suggest. They’re creamier than the NYX lip creams but not by much, and they’re a lot easier to build up – although these will still settle into your fine lines a little. These also have the most subtle of scents, it smells like a mix of vanilla and toffee to me.
I picked up two shades from BeautyBay: Dulce de Leche and Citronade Rose. Dulce de Leche is the top in the swatches below and the photo does not do it any justice. The shade in real life is more of a pinky nude than a browny one, I think it really compliments my pale skin tone. Once my lips are in a better state this won’t pick up on dry lines at all, (it’s the other one that has a tendency to do so.) Citronade Rose is probably the most beautiful lip colour I own. It’s a mesmerising rose gold glitter. At first I thought this was a lip topper but it holds up on it own. The only slight problem is that this one really does settle into the fine lines and dry patches you have on your lips, which is a real shame as it’s such a stunning shade. I have paired this over the top of Dulche de Leche to minimise the amount it adheres to dry patches and it does really help.
I ordered my two off of BeautyBay as they had a deal on where you got 6 free minis with orders over £50. These didn’t come to £50 however, that isn’t to say they were cheap. At £15 each they’re not inexpensive, they’re only £1.50 off being the price of a MAC lipstick. If you were to ask which would I rather, I would probably say a MAC lipstick, simply because they don’t settle into my lips quite as much as liquid lipsticks do. That being said, I am glad I purchased these two as I do love the shades, and it’s always nice to have liquid lipsticks in your collection.
