Autumn is most definitely upon us – it’s even November now (practically December soon too.) Every year I think it will be the year that I finally branch out into darker lipsticks and each year I end up retreating back to the safety of a nude lip. But not this year. This year I am going to embrace the dark nights and complement them with a dark lip. Strangely, for someone who rarely wears autumnal shades I actually owned quite a few and I thought I would show you how you might find your perfect autumnal shade.
For the red lipstick wearer: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen. If you’re a regular wearer of red lipsticks this is probably the perfect autumnal shade for you. It’s a deeper red than your usual pillar box red so if you’re trying to make the transition to purples this would be a good place to start.
For the matte lover: Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu. This lip pencil is the most gorgeous shade of purple I own, and surprisingly it’s quite easy to pull off as well. If you need a product that will stay put through wet autumnal nights, this will. I would recommend using a lip liner of some kind though to stop any smudging.
For the traditional lipstick enthusiast: Kat Von D Studded Lipstick in Mercy. This is obviously a bog standard creamy lipstick but it is a beautiful shade. It’s a deep rust red almost with slight glitter running throughout.
For the budget friendly: Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Are&Be. This was my favourite shade from my Colourpop Haul back in July. It’s less of a berry shade and more grey toned but it is beautiful – although watch out for the runny formula, you might spill half the tube like I did…
For those preferring pink: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague. This is a firm favourite of mine all year round, it’s a deep ish pink which dries down to a very wearable shade. If you don’t want to quite delve into the world of dark berry, autumnal shades this is a very pretty alternative.
I don’t know why but I really love the swatches I did for this post. You might’ve seen the photo on Instagram already, and that’s because I intended to have this post up a month ago – but you know: life happens!
I have Nyx Prague and it's a gorgeous shade but I really need to get my hands on the Nyx Copenhagen, the perfect shade for fall :)Yiotapinkdaisyloves.blogspot.com
