Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips: Purse Sized and Pretty

All of a sudden, I have found myself on the Charlotte Tilbury bandwagon. I only jumped on last August, but now I have found myself well and truly on board with all things Tilbury. It started with their set of Lipstick Charms, continued on with the Lip Archive, and now I have the latest set: the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips minis in my collection also.

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips

As you can imagine, this little set was on my Christmas list as I am an absolute sucker for miniature products, and ones that look quite so pretty on your dressing table. I will rarely use up a whole tube of lipstick, as to be honest my makeup is quite low maintenance for day to day university wear. If I finish a mini it’s an indication that it could be worth purchasing the full size. Mini’s are the best way for me to try products, although they’re not always the most cost-effective.

Within the set you get a nice mix of shades. Firstly, is Kim K.W which is a very pale nude. To be honest, I’m not sure that even I can get away with it, and I am Casper the ghosts cousin. When swatched, to me it appears to be an almost salmon nude, which doesn’t usually work for my skin tone – although I have been adding lip liners underneath which make it more wearable. The formula is that of the K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipsticks, so it won’t dry your lips out, and actually keeps them quite hydrated. The CT website describes it as a pinky beige nude, and for me it’s not a shade I will be repurchasing.

For me it is Secret Salma that is the showstopper from the set. It’s a matte finish, which usually I would shy away from due to the fact I have dry flaky lips. However, this formula does not emphasise those dry patches, seamlessly hiding them instead. The shade is a muted rosy pink, but unlike most, it’s not too bright and definitely one you can wear every day. CT describes it as a deep rose plum shade, but I don’t think it’s too plum like.

Finally, the last shade is Carina’s Love, another Matte Revolution formula, inspired by Carina Lau. While it’s a beautiful blue toned red, it’s nothing my lipstick collection doesn’t already have. That’s not to say I don’t love it though; it has the same formula as Secret Salma, so again it doesn’t highlight my dry patches and does look gorgeous on the lips. I’m not wearing reds too regularly at the moment, but come spring/summer time this will be on my lips all the time.

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Swatches

Overall, I can’t deny this set is cute and a must have for any makeup lover. But, that’s not to say that it comes cheap. Each lipstick has 0.04oz of product, which is 1/3 of the size of their normal lipsticks. So, in total you are getting a lipsticks worth of product, over three minis. However, the trio is £5 more expensive than a regular lipstick. If you were thinking of getting this for yourself, you might want to look into getting a full-size lipstick instead, unless you’re like me and want to try a few. For gifting purposes though, this little set is perfect. It is slightly on the pricier side at £29, but if you know a beauty lover in need of a treat, these are perfect.
